Unemployment is dropping and debts are closing in some of the country’s big swing states, and Republican governors are taking the credit. Scott Walker was vindicated in Wisconsin on Tuesday after beating a recall election spurred by his massive downsizing of public-sector labor unions. And auto companies are finally making profits again.  
Can governors like Scott Walker and John Kasich of Ohio take credit for their states’ revitalized economies? Or have President Obama’s growth initiatives and bailouts had a positive effect? Dr. G. Terry Madonna is  professor of public affairs at Franklin & Marshall College.
