Occupy Wall Street protests enter 4th week and don’t slow down

Protesters in more than 26 U.S. cities are continuing the now-four weeks old Occupy Wall Street protests.

Nowhere are the protests more visible than in the shadow of Wall Street itself, in Lower Manhattan. Thousands of protesters are expected in Zuccotti Park today as this protest of bank bailouts and corporate misbehavior enters its fourth week.

Frank Williams, a participant who has been in the park for some time now said he’s not surprised the protests have lasted this long.

“This is my responsibility as a citizen,” he said. “This is what we want to do and we want it to go on as long as possible.

And as it shows no signs of letting up, it’s gaining inevitable comparisons to the Tea Party movement.

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said she understands comparisons to her own movement, but says eventually, “if you want to be effective, you have to do something to effect change. Being in the streets won’t effect change.”

Kremer said she doesn’t see much comparison between the two organizations.
