Vice President Biden speaks in Israel

The World

Vice President Joe Biden spoke in Israel this morning in a speech that was billed as one similar to President Obama’s address to the Muslim world while in Cairo last year. But Biden’s visit to Israel wasn’t without incident.

On Tuesday, Israel announced its intent to continue building settlements in East Jerusalem. The U.S. has pushed for Israel to stop building settlements altogether. Israel later apologized that the announcement came during Biden’s visit, and in his speech, Biden responded, saying the U.S. will hold both sides in the conflict responsible for statements or actions that undermine the peace process.
