International pressure on Greece has increased ahead of crisis talks later between its prime minister and the leaders of Germany and France.

George Papandreou’s surprise decision to call a referendum on the eurozone rescue plan agreed last week continued to unsettle financial markets.

And leaders heading for Thursday’s G20 summit in France urged the debt-laden eurozone to put its house in order.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she wanted “clarity” from Greece.
