Why the Pope Might Like New Music from Boogat

The World

We hear the new Pope Francis is a fan of Argentina’s best-known style of music, the tango.

And if Pope Francis is aiming to reach out to younger members of his flock, we strongly recommend he check out some of the newer music coming out of his home city.

Try Boogat for starters.

Even though he’s from Quebec, he’s been a hot number on the electro-latino circuit, and Boogat’s sounds from the Buenos Aires barrios are packing dance floors in North and South America.

Boogat’s latest CD “El Dorado Sunset” plays around with cumbia… which is better associated with Colombia.

But cumbia has long been huge in Argentina, too.

And it’s the main currency of ZZK Records in Buenos Aires, and right now, of Boogat.
