Latin American music

Two generations of bachata musicians gathered to pay homage to the classic style of music from the Dominican Republic’s rural north. Bruce Wallace went to a performance in New York City.

Reporter Betto Arcos tells us about the “gaita”, an indigenous wooden flute played along Colombia’s Caribbean coast, and the popular band called Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto.

Thursday night at the Latin Grammys, keep your eyes peeled for a newcomer to the awards. He is Nicaraguan singer and songwriter Ramon Mejia and he’s been nominated in the best alternative album category. The World’s Marco Werman has more.
