In North Korean relations, US wants more help from China
President Barack Obama called China’s President Hu Jintao early this morning in the hopes that he could enlist the leader’s help in sending a “clear message” to North Korea. In the weeks since North Korea launched a barrage of shells against South Korea last month, U.S. officials have charged that China isn’t putting enough pressure on their neighbor to be less of a threat in the region. The dynamic between China, Japan, the U.S., and South and North Korea may be changing ? but how?
