Dr. Rand Paul put the Tea Party on the political map last week as he handily beat GOP-blessed Senate primary candidate (Kentucky) Trey Grayson. But in the first few days after his victory, the novice politician stumbled on his first big political test.

A few weeks ago, a poll from The New York Times gave us a closer look at who makes up the Tea Party. The biggest demographic is older, white, educated, Republican men. But is anyone actually leading it? Where is it headed?

The dysfunction in the US during the past two weeks is now part of how the world sees America. Africans are comparing the US to another big player on the continent – China.
