The hackers are targeting companies, including banks and energy infrastructure firms, in a roll out that suggests they are preparing to activate the malware in one massive strike, cyber police chief Serhiy Demedyuk said.

A group of hackers from Russia made headlines when it was able to shut down Ukraine’s power grid in 2015. The US may be the next target.

The Trump administration on Thursday blamed the Russian government for a campaign of cyber attacks stretching back at least two years that targeted the US power grid, marking the first time the United States has publicly accused Moscow of hacking into American energy infrastructure.

There are no known cyberattacks or hacks that originated as a result of information gained through the review process but it’s still cause for concern.
