London 2012: the medalists of Latin America

Latin American countries are not traditionally known for bountiful medal counts, but the London 2012 Olympic Games are showcasing talented athletes who are slowly growing the region's haul of silver and bronze.

Teams from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic are among this year's Olympic medalists. Guatemala, for the first time ever, has also joined their ranks. So far in London the region has won more 30 medals combined.

These photos represent some of Latin America's greatest moments in London over the past two weeks.
