Kickstarter Madagascar: Kabosy Madness

We’ve made it! That’s right: With the help of 150 backers (and counting!) we’ve not only reached but actually surpassed our goal of $10,000 for our Madagascar Kickstarter campaign. If you’ve supported us, we wish to thank you. But the campaign is not over yet! Every additional dollar that we receive in support will enable us to make the most of our journey, collecting more music, interviewing more artists, bringing back more astounding video, audio and photographs. And there is so much Malagasy music out there!

For instance? The kabosy. The kabosy is the Malagasy ukulele, a wondrous little instrument that comes in many forms.  For our supporters—and anyone still on the fence, here’s a quick primer based on Afropop Worldwide’s field work in Madagascar in 2001. Filmed by Banning Eyre.
