A wall of ash enveloped Indonesia's Mount Sinabung on Tuesday following a spectacular eruption that prompted further evacuations.
More than 20,000 people within a 4-mile "danger zone" have been forced from their homes due to ash, lava and poisonous gases in recent weeks.
The volcano has erupted sporadically since last September. The more than 100 eruptions reported in recent days have damaged crops and poisoned animals.
The volcano had lain dormant for four centuries before a deadly eruption in 2010.
