Two Florida Imams accused of supporting Taliban

The Takeaway

Imam Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan, who runs the city’s oldest mosque, the Flagler Mosque, is being indicted on charges of supporting the Pakistani Taliban. The parishioners there “cannot believe it, for the most part, because of the fact that this man is so frail, so religious, more scholarly, you know, and he led a rather quiet life,” according to Jay Weaver of the Miami Herald. “And so the notion that he has been plotting with other family members to send some $50,000 to Pakistani Taliban for guns and military training… is just sort of beyond their imagination,” Weaver reports. “They’re in disbelief.”
