Russia Sends More Advanced Missiles to Assad Regime

The Takeaway

Just as the United States and Russia are planning to convene an international conference to find an end to the conflict in Syria, American officials have learned that Russia has sent more advanced antiship cruise missiles to the Assad regime. These weapons differ from ones previously sent by Russia in that they include an advanced radar that makes them more effective and may make any sort of a naval embargo by the international community that much more difficult to enforce.
Michael Gordon, National Security Correspondent  for our partner The New York Times, shares the latest developments and what this may mean for the peace process.
