Jim Marshall, the Man Behind the Marshall Amp, Dies at 88

The World

The Marshall amplifier is iconic in rock ‘n’ roll.

Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page used Marshall amps and wanna-be heavy metal rockers in the Soviet Union could only dream of getting their hands on one.

The man behind the amp was Jim Marshall. He died Thursday at the age of 88.

Anchor Marco Werman speaks with Rich Maloof, who wrote a biography of Marshall called “The Father of Loud.”
