Dozens killed in Turkish earthquake (with video)

At least 45 people are dead in one Turkish town after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the area Sunday afternoon, the BBC is reporting.

Early reports indicate numerous buildings have collapsed and the death toll is expected to climb into the hundreds as rescue officials work to get to eastern Turkey, where the quake was centered.

According the the Associated Press, the temblor struck near the Turkish-Iranian border and had caused panic throughout the area.

The quake was reported to have been at a shallow depth, which can lead to greater destruction.
