Syrian tanks were seen leaving the restive city of Homs Tuesday morning, as a group of 50 observers from the Arab League arrived in the besieged city. Anti-government activists say at least 30 people were killed by security forces in Homs on Monday. Footage posted on the internet showed Homs’ devastated Baba Amr neighborhood after being attacked by tanks. Arab League monitors began their visit by meeting with Homs’ governor. The United Nations estimates over 5,000 people have died since the violence began nine months ago. Sebastian Usher, Arab affairs editor for the BBC, reports on the latest developments.
