Rebels Advance on Sirte

The Takeaway

The Libyan town of Sirte is halfway between the rebels’ stronghold of Benghazi and the capital Tripoli, which is still firmly under the control of Colonel Gadhafi. Sirte is Gadhafi’s hometown and has been a major objective for rebels. There were reports Sunday night that rebel forces had taken over the city, but it appears that this may have been an exaggeration. BBC correspondent Kevin Connolly explains how the fight between rebels and Gadhafi forces has been playing out now that the allies have stepped in.
