The color black just got way blacker. Scientists in New York recently created a new paper-thin material that is far and away the darkest substance yet; it’s about 30 times blacker than the previous blackest black. No news yet on its suitability for cocktail dresses, but the Pentagon is intrigued – the new black and similar materials may someday allow soldiers and aircraft to turn invisible. For real. Reporter Rick Weiss wrote about the new technology for the Washington Post, and he speaks to Faith Salie on Fair Game.
