Today is the release date for “Watch the Throne,”  the much anticipated collaborative album between Jay-Z and Kanye West. Jay-Z and West will follow up the album with  an undoubtedly well-attended national tour. Both artists are massively successful in their own right, and fans are eagerly waiting to hear what the musical results of this powerful pairing. Dan Charnas,  “The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop”  and editorial director at Interactive One, talks about whether the album should be an exciting moment for hip hop fans, or if its just a cynical attempt for two superstars to further cash in on their fame.
