Happy Hanukkah from Ben Kweller: remixing the holidays

The World

Hanukkah kicks off at sundown tonight. And while the festival of lights is famous for a lot of things ? like potato latkes and eight nights of presents ? it’s often underappreciated for its music.

That changes today. Indie music star Ben Kweller reminds us that there’s plenty of good Hanukkah music. He joins us from his tour bus, which is currently parked in Birmingham, Ala.

Here is Ben Kweller’s full list of favorite Hanukkah songs:

Ben Kweller’s Favorite Hanukkah Songs

Maoz Tzur (traditional, performed by Listen Up! on our show)
Hanukkah oh Hanukkah (traditional, performed by Barenaked Ladies on our show)
The Hanukkah Song (Adam Sandler)
Little Drum Machine Boy / Hanukkah Funk (Beck)
Applesauce vs. Sour Cream? (The Leeves)

Tune in for more holiday music the week of December 20, when our annual ?Remixing the Holidays? series kicks into high gear with Augusten Burroughs, Natalie Cole, and many other stars who will share their favorite Christmas music with us.
