Georges Méliès — Inspiration For The Movie ‘Hugo’

The real-life of early French filmmaker Georges Méliès inspired the central character of author Brian Selznick’s book “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” and the movie adaptation by Martin Scorsese. Anchor Marco Werman speaks with Méliès’ granddaughter and with film historian Glenn Myrent, who just saw the film, “Hugo” in Paris.
Also featured in the interview: “The Extraordinary Voyage—A trip to The Moon” is a documentary about the lost and found, then restored hand-painted version of Georges Méliès’ 1902 film “A Trip to the Moon.” This version also include a soundtrack by Air. It will be released in early 2012 by Flicker Alley and in select theaters.
