In 1992 Bosnia declared its independence from Yugoslavia and Serbia, and Karadzic warned Bosnia of dire consequences. When fighting began in 1992, Karadzic claimed it was Bosnian-Serbs who were coming under attack and when asked about Muslims in concentration camps he denied the camps even existed. Karadzic would deny other atrocities as well and said the towns were safe and secure. After the war, Karadzic didn’t hesitate to take full responsibility of his actions as the leader of the Serbian people.
