Obama tells daughters: If you get tattoos, we will too (VIDEO)

In an interview on NBC's “Today” show on Wednesday, President Barack Obama joked about he and the first lady have tried to use reverse psychology in parenting their daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, at the White House.

“What we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decided you’re going to get a tattoo, then mommy and me will get the exact same tattoo in the same place. And we’ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo,” Obama said. “And our thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that somehow that’s a good way to rebel.”

In the interview, which was taped just hours before the Boston Marathon bombings and later replayed, the president talked about hard news topics including immigration reform, gun control and North Korea.

But at the end of the interview with Savannah Guthrie, the president opened up and spoke more candidly about his family.

When asked about Michelle Obama's recent slip that she was a “busy single mother," the president laughed off the mistake, while acknowledging his all-consuming work schedule.

“You know, as somebody who has stumbled over my lines many times, I tend to cut my wife or anybody some slack when it comes to just a slip to the tongue,” Obama said. “But there's no doubt that there've been times where Michelle probably felt like a single mom,” especially when he was campaigning.
