There was a tranformation on the Korean Penninsula today and maybe not a good one: two American B-2 stealth bombers few above the country in a practice run. These nuclear capable B-2s made a non-stop trip from the Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to South Korea – the first time the U.S. military has publicly announced such a mission.
It comes after months of sabre-rattling from North Korea, including threats of pre-emptive nuclear strikes, three nuclear tests, and the shutting down of a Red Cross hot line with South Korea and a communication line with the American military command in the South.
Only yesterday, Pyongyang cut off the last remaining military hotline with its southern neighbor, all seen as escalating aggression towards Seoul.
