The 86th Academy Awards would be pushed back to March 2, 2014, on ABC, to avoid overlap with the 2014 Winter Olympics, beng held from Feb. 7 to 23 in Sochi, Russia.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made the announcement Monday, also saying that the 87th edition would take place on Feb. 22, 2015 — closer on the calendar to this year’s ceremony, which took place on Feb. 24.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards also moved its 2014 ceremony, to January 18, while the Los Angeles Times reported that the producers and directors guilds pushed their show dates to earlier in January as well.

The Directors Guild of America will hold its 66th DGA Awards on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards will be held Jan. 18.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has yet to announce when its Golden Globe Awards ceremony will be held.

According to the Associated Press, nominations for the 86th annual Academy Awards will be announced Jan. 16, 2014, at least six weeks before the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake is reportedly at the top of the list to host the show, MTV wrote, though basing its information on a tabloid report.
