Pop star Justin Timberlake poked fun at the late Hugo Chavez on Saturday Night Live last night, reworking "Candle in the Wind" as a tribute to him.

Justin Timberlake took aim at the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez on SNL last night.

The famous pop star reworked the Elton John song "Candle in the Wind" in memory of Chavez, reported Metro.

The song opened the late night show with the words:

"You were hero to your people and you never gave up a fight."

"We'll miss you Hugo Chavez, because live from New York it's Saturday night."

Other zingers included:

"You said the US causes earthquakes and you outlawed Coke Zero."

"And on your shoulder sat your parrot with a matching red beret."

And, "You helped make your country the kidnapping capital of the world and also increased milk production."

Chavez died last week of cancer. He was 58.
