Mardi Gras shooting: 4 wounded in gunfire on Bourbon Street
Bourbon street remains vitrually empty ahead of Tropical Storm Isaac on Aug. 27, 2012 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to strengthen into at least a Category 1 hurricane before making landfall near Louisiana.
Four people in a crowd of pre-Mardi Gras revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans were wounded in gunfire on Saturday night, the Associated Press reported.
Video of the shooting incident recorded by a bystander showed two men arguing with one of the victims, Reuters reported. The two men walked away, but one of them returned with a third man who had a gun. He shot the victim in the abdomen, thigh and pelvis and also wounded three other people before fleeing.
As of early Sunday afternoon, the police had not made any arrests, Reuters reported.
The victim who was shot in the abdomen was in critical condition, the AP reported. The other three victims – a man who was shot in the buttocks, a woman who was shot on her chin and right foot and a woman who was shot on her toe – were in stable condition, the police said.
Mardi Gras takes place on Feb. 12.
