In a sign that she has recovered from the worst of her pregnancy sickness, Kate Middleton will attend her first public engagement since she was hospitalized.

Royal palace officials released a statement confirming the Duchess of Cambridge will be attending the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Awards in London Sunday night.

According to the Daily Mail, sources said her husband Prince William will not be by her sid as he is back at work as an RAF search and rescue pilot on Anglesey.

The Duchess is likely to only stay for 45 minutes as she is still recovering and has been advised to rest as much as possible.

"While the Duchess does not feel ready to attend a four hour engagement, she is keen to show her support to the UK's sportsmen and women at this prestigious event which caps a momentous year for British sport," the source told the newspaper.

Middleton has not been seen in public since leaving King Edward VII Hospital in London on December 6, AP reported.
