Katie Holmes debuts at New York Fashion Week

Katie Holmes has made the transition from actress to divorcee to fashion designer splendidly, showing off her clothing line, Holmes & Yang, for the first at New York Fashion Week.

The 33-year–old arrived at the Lincoln Centre and marched into the tents where she helped the models prepare.

But as The Guardian reported, Holmes, who left Suri at home, opted for a close-up presentation of 14 outfits instead of a catwalk show.

Among the designs were leather bomber jackets, blazers and camisoles which were all teamed with Manolo Blahnik heels.

The dresses, shorts and coats clearly showed a preference for boyish tailoring with a feminine touch, The Guardian wrote.

The Los Angeles Times said Holmes and Yang circulated the room, explaining to magazine editors the focus of the collection is on elevating casual dressing "because looking stylish and casual is often harder than dressing up."

Although the label was launched in 2009, this is the first time they have shown during fashion week.

"It felt like a natural step to have more of an audience now," said Holmes.

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham took her label to the catwalk yesterday, with baby daughter, Harper, 14 months, in the front row.

The Daily Mail reported Harper sat front row at the Victoria, Victoria Beckham collection (VVB) show and had no problem making her opinions clear on the outfits.

At times, she stood up and was enthralled at the outfits.

Some of the brighter outfits caught Harper's eye, and saw the little girl watch intently as they made their way down the catwalk, the newspaper reported.
