Montreal: Foot found on street fake, police say

The foot found in Montreal this morning was actually made of plastic or rubber, police said, although initial reports suggested that it was human flesh.

According to the National Post, the fake foot was found less than 24 hours after a hand and foot were mailed from Montreal to two Vancouver-area schools.

Police in both Vancouver and Montreal are working to determine whether the remains delivered to the Vancouver schools are linked to the Luka Rocco Magnotta case.

Magnotta, a self-proclaimed gay porn star, is suspected of killing and dismembering the body of Jun Lin, and mailing the parts across the country. Lin's torso was discovered near Magnotta's apartment building.

“The focus of our investigation is to identify the victim and from where the packages were mailed,” Vancouver deputy police Chief Warren Lemcke said about the body parts mailed to the schools.

A coroner is examining those remains for links with nearly identical deliveries to political offices in Ottawa at the end of May.

Magnotta faces numerous charges, including murder, upon his return to Montreal.

German police arrested him in Berlin on Monday after a nine-day, international man hunt. He is not fighting extradition.
