Body parts murder victim visiting Chinese student
Canadian police and Interpol issued arrest warrants for Luka Rocco Magnotta after discovering a headless torso stuffed inside a locked suitcase outside his Montreal apartment building.
Police identified the man killed in Canada’s body parts case as Chinese student Jun Lin, who was in Montreal studying French when he allegedly met Luka Rocco Magnotta.
The 33-year-old Chinese man’s family alerted police on May 24 that he was missing, roughly a day before police believe Magnotta killed him with an ice pick, violated his body and posted video of the killing online.
There’s evidence he cannibalized and sexually violated the body, police said.
“Have they been dating? Are they friends? We aren’t sure,” Montreal police Insp. Ian Lafreniere said, according to the Globe and Mail. “They knew each other.”

It’s believed Magnotta, a self-described male model and gay porn actor, severed Lin’s hand and foot before mailing them to Canada’s top political parties.

He could now be in Europe, and The Associated Press reported French police are looking for him in Paris.
Police are also suggesting he could be traveling under an alias, or even dressed as a woman.
Magnotta, 29, was born Eric Clinton Newman near Toronto and has used the alias Vladimir Romanov.
Based on his lengthy internet history, Magnotta revels in attention.
Animal rights groups organized campaigns to identify and stop him after videos surfaced of Magnotta killing kittens.
He was also linked to Karla Homolka, a woman who served 12 years in prison for helping husband Paul Bernardo kill three teens, including her own sister.
He once auditioned for a gay reality show.
An American lawyer tipped police to the video on a website called Bestgore.com, but officers in Toronto brushed it off as fake.
Montana lawyer Roger Renville said he called several Canadian and American police departments, but received little credence, the Toronto Star reported
Renville said police suggested what he was seeing was good “special effects.”
“I asked (the officer) to give me an email address to which I could send a link to the video and he said ‘no,’ they wouldn’t be needing a link to the video.”
