Romney’s With Mitt Amercia app delights Twitter, bloggers

GlobalPost

If Mitt Romney’s team wanted to inject some life into his campaign with a new iPhone app, mission accomplished.

The “With Mitt” app launched Tuesday containing a typo – A Better Amercia – has gone viral, but probably not the way strategists had intended.

“Are you with Mitt in 2012? Then show your support,” the app’s description reads on iTunes.

The app is a simple enough idea.

It provides users with 14 photo frames to choose from, each with a different inspirational or motivational message, such as "American Greatness," "Believe in America," or "Day One, Job One."

Users add their own photos and share them on Facebook or Twitter.

There’s certainly been a lot of sharing, with some delighted user creating the Amercia is With Mitt blog on Tumblr.

Twitter users delighted in the mistake, vaulting #Amercia into its top hashtags, while users flooded the Internet with their interpretations of what Amercia stands for.

A Romney spokeswoman told USA Today, “Mistakes happen,” and said the developer – Romney for President Inc. – has a new version of the app waiting for Apple’s approval.

The app’s launch coincides with Romney’s victory in the Texas primary making him the official Republican nominee.
