Magnotta, 29, has appeared in gay porn on the internet and been accused of killing kittens and having a sexual affair with one of Canada’s most reviled criminals.
CBC News reported today that police might have a video of the suspect dismembering the body.
“The most important thing for us is to nab the suspect, and to make sure we don’t jeopardize a future trial,” Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere told CBC.
The case began Tuesday when staff at the Conservative Party of Canada offices in Ottawa received a human foot in the mail.
Police then found a human hand awaiting delivery inside a Canada Post sorting center in the Canadian capital.
That package was allegedly headed to the Liberal Party of Canada.
Both of the body parts came from a headless torso found locked inside a suitcase discarded among some garbage outside a Montreal building.

Police issued a Canada-wide warrant today, and said they couldn’t rule out more body parts are in the mail, the Globe and Mail reported.
Lafreniere said that the victim and suspect knew each other, but wouldn’t divulge many more details.
They did suggest the crime scene where they believe the dismembering took place was among the most horrific detectives had ever witnessed.
“Some body parts are missing,” Lafreniere said, according to the Globe.
Magnotta is also known as Eric Clinton Newman and Vladmir Romanov.
He told the Toronto Sun in 2008 that allegations he dated Karla Homolka ruined his modeling career.
“The rumors destroyed my life, basically,” he told the Sun. “I’ve been receiving death threats. … I’m about to have a nervous breakdown; my reputation has been ruined.”
He denies ever having met Homolka, who served 12 years in prison for helping ex-husband Paul Bernardo kill and rape three Canadian girls between 1991 and 1993.
A video circulated online allegedly showed Magnotta killing kittens.
He denies the accusations on his website.
