Myanmar: Aung San Suu Kyi to address UN conference

Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is to deliver a speech to a labor conference in Geneva next month, UN officials say.
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) next month "will be the first place where she will speak internationally after leaving Myanmar," ILO director-general Juan Somavia said, the Associated Press reported.
She will give a speech on the final day of the ILO conference on June 14.

Suu Kyi, 66, also plans to visit Oslo, Norway where she will deliver her acceptance speech nearly 21 years after winning the Nobel Peace Prize, according to the UK Press Association.
Her British husband Michael Aris, who died in 1999, and her two sons accepted the award on her behalf.
The visit will mark her first travels abroad since 1988, when she returned to Myanmar to care for her ailing mother.
Suu Kyi was put under house arrest for 15 of Burma's 22 years of military rule.
She was issued her first passport in two decades on May 8, according to Agence France-Presse.
