A small town in Minnesota is trying to make a big change. The people of Bemidji, Minnesota are building bridges between the white and the Native communities by making the signs in public buildings and many businesses both in Ojibwe and English. Anton Treuer, Professor of Ojibwe Studies in Bemidji and author of a book coming out this spring “Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask,” discusses the past integration attempts of the Ojibwe community and the impact of such bilingual signs.
