Los Angeles County speeds up Valentine’s Day marriages

Dean C. Logan, L.A. County's Registrar-Recorder and County Clerk, announced over the weekend that on February 14, couples could request civil ceremonies at the same time as they applied for marriage licenses, in an attempt to cut down on the Valentine's Day rush, LA Weekly reported.
"Love is in the air, and the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk is here to help couples who want to make this Valentine's Day a memorable one," Logan wrote on the L.A. County Registrar's website.

It is the office's busiest day of the year for marriage licenses, according to LA Weekly. Civil ceremonies cost $25, while marriage licenses cost $85 or $90. To register, you only need a valid ID and cash or check.
The Registrar will hold ceremonies all day at its seven locations across the county, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m., depending on the branch.
According to the Registrar's Twitter, there is currently a less than 20 minute wait for marriages at every office.
