Afghanistan bus crash kills 35
A bus crash in southern Afghanistan reportedly killed at least 35 people and injured 27 early Saturday morning.
The driver lost control, and the crowded bus overturned as it traveled from Kandahar city to the capital, Kabul, Kandahar officials told BBC. The crash occurred in Daman district of Kandahar province.
"This morning we received 35 dead and 24 injured from a bus crash incident," the head of Kandahar Public Health, Abdul Qayoom Pokhla, told BBC.

Road accidents with high casualties are relatively common in Afghanistan, where roads are often in bad conditions, and vehicles are unsafe.
The accident happened at 3:30 A.M., AFP reports.
"The Ministry of Interior Affairs asks all drivers to drive carefully and observe all traffic rules and regulations because a small reckless move can endanger many lives," it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a string of insurgent attacks across Afghanistan killed five people Saturday, the Associated Press reports. A bomb in a rickshaw killed an Afghan intelligent agent in Nangahar province, a roadside bomb killed two in Ghazni province, and another rickshaw bomb killed two Afghan soldiers in Herat, it states.
A day earlier, an attack on the British Council in Kabul killed at least eight people.
