Aussie thief boosts a Porsche and a six-pack … to go

GlobalPost

How does an Australian disqualified driver celebrate boosting a Porsche 911? By grabbing a few beers — to go, of course — payment optional, quick getaway advisable.

A Sydney man faces charges of driving while disqualified, mid-range drink-driving and beer theft after he took a red — red — Porsche for a joyride to a bottle shop, where he stole the six-pack of beer, police told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The 37-year-old appeared to have abandoned all attempts at succeeding in his crime, after taking the car in broad daylight, about 12.30 p.m., police said.

It did, however, take the police three hours to catch up with him — albeit on Kings Cross Road, in the red-light district of Kings Cross, which is about as central as Sydney gets, and quite difficult to navigate out of if, say, you are being sought by police for stealing a red Porsche.

The man is due to appear in court on July 22.
