Calling all Takeaway listeners and cat owners

The World

A few weeks back we held a Takeaway dog show to coincide with the Westminster Kennel Dog Show and got a huge response from listeners. Hundreds of people sent in their photos of their canines and you voted for the winner.

The only complaints we received about the contest were from cat owners who wanted in on our pet love fest. That got us thinking about the differences between cat people and dog people. It turns out that psychology professor Sam Goslin, who teaches at the University of Texas, has been thinking about this too. He recently completed a study that will be published later this year in the journal Anthrozoös all about the personality traits that dog people and cat people express.

We talk with Sam Goslin and writer Emily Yoffe, who writes the Dear Prudence Column for Slate and is author of the book ?What the Dog Did: Tales from a Formerly Reluctant Dog Owner.?
