This commuter says the situation is really bad because the people suffering the most are those who have to work. She says downtown Barcelona is completely dry, and the wait at some gas stations is as long as 30 minutes. The truckers here and across Europe are protesting against soaring diesel prices, which has risen by 20% this year and it now costs nearly $9 a gallon. The truckers are demanding government help, but EU leaders say that would violate EU rules about subsidies. The blockades are also affecting supermarkets who are now having trouble keeping shelves stocked. Barcelona officials are urging people not to panic.
