The conflict in Kenya

AM says Kofi Annan could just leave the country but it’s something he doesn’t want to do. The talks he’s been mediating have made no process in the past couple days, which has left him frustrated. He now says he’s going to try to engage the two leaders, Kibaki and Odinga. (Secretary Rice appears to be losing patience on the behalf of Washington. What is she getting at?) She is alluding to is that there is a strong knowledge that it is the government holding the talks back. Rice told the government they had to get involved in power sharing, which clearly has not happened. (What are the alternatives for the US?) I think at the moment it is not business as usual and donor aid is something being looked at. The US gives about a billion dollars a year to Kenya and when you consider trade also it can amount to $2 billion.
