(Who were the intended targets of these attacks?) Today's attack was targeted for a Canadian military vehicle and it was protected well, even though all kinds of Afghans around them died. Yesterday's attack was against a local police commander who was unprotected and surrounded by bodyguards but they didn't do much good, upwards of 100 killed. (Does that suggest that these incidents were part of a pattern?) attacks have been on the rise. The Afghan suicide bombers are known as being among the worst in the world but they are getting better. (So are these two attacks a reflection of what's happening throughout Afghanistan?) These attacks, violence was up 56%, but what you don't see with that is how the Taliban is reasserting itself quietly. Women going to schools are now harassed and the Taliban is some districts are enforcing curfews and other Sharia inspired laws.
