Hamas says it’s ready to accept a ceasefire, as Israel expands military operations in Rafah

On Monday morning, the Israeli military warned Palestinians east of Rafah to evacuation ahead of planned military action. Monday afternoon, Hamas said it was ready to accept a ceasefire proposal from Egyptian and Qatari mediators. The details of the deal were not clear at first, but Israeli officials said this was not the same deal they had agreed to with negotiators. By Monday evening, there were reports of Israeli air strikes in Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians have been seeking safety. Host Marco Werman speaks with The World’s Matthew Bell about the latest on the ceasefire negotiations and what’s playing out in the southern Gaza Strip.
