Victims of Guatemalan military seek justice for war crimes

It’s been a couple of weeks since Bernardo Arevalo won the presidential election in Guatemala. But the results are still being disputed. Arevalo’s supporters came out in Guatemala City last weekend to defend his victory. His political rivals are using the courts to try to suspend Arevalo’s political party over registration flaws. His supporters say that courts in Guatemala have long favored the elites, and they’re hoping for change, Including for the victims of war crimes that occurred during the nation’s civil war.
