The US effort to stop future dependence on Chinese batteries for electric vehicles

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) is one of a couple of lithium-battery-making juggernauts in China that supply much of the worlds’ electric vehicle (EV) industry. Officials in the United States are feeling nervous about this and have begun to try and steer car manufacturers away from China’s battery supply. The alternatives are not plentiful. The World’s host Carolyn Beeler talks with Jennifer Turner, the director of the China Environment Forum at the Wilson Center, about what’s behind this fear.
