San Diego’s Migrant Welcome Center closed on Feb. 22 after running out of money. And there is no city or county facility stepping in. Since it closed, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have dropped off more than 1,000 migrants on the streets of San Diego. KPBS reporter Gustavo Solis, in San Diego, says that most move on to other parts of the US, but nonprofits and aid groups can’t keep up with the immediate needs of new arrivals.
