El Salvador’s police and military are raiding working-class communities and arresting thousands of people, in response to a murdering spree, apparently perpetrated by gangs last month. As The World’s Latin America correspondent Jorge Valencia reports, human rights groups are concerned about how President Nayib Bukele’s crusade against organized criminals is compromising civil rights protections across the country.
