Jackie Botts

Jackie Botts is a graduate student of journalism at Stanford University. During Jackie's undergraduate career in Earth Systems at Stanford (’16), she focused on food security and health equity in California and lived abroad in both Chile and Mexico. She has had internships at the Santa Barbara Independent newspaper, Community Legal Services of East Palo Alto Immigration Team, the Stanford Prevention Research Center and the Chilean Ministry of the Environment. Those experiences convinced her of the power of well-told stories to promote compassion and action toward issues of environmental, racial and class injustice. With a background in visual and performing arts, Jackie is also eager to expand her use of multimedia journalism to provide readers with more accessible and visceral representations of experiences different from their own.
