A woman’s duties are in the home according to the Irish constitution which was drawn up 87 years ago. On Friday, International Women’s Day, voters in Ireland will decide if they want that article replaced. The Irish government has proposed changing the so-called “women in the home” clause with new wording that recognizes the value of the provision of care in the home “by members of a family.” But as The World’s Europe correspondent Orla Barry reports, the issue is proving surprisingly divisive.
